BOONVILLE — Logan Wood and Allison Mitchell each had four RBI as Forbush pounded out 17 hits in a 17-4 win over Starmount Wednesday.

Forbush jumped out to 4-0 first inning lead before the Rams tied it in their half of the first. The Falcons scored five more in the second inning to go up 9-4.

“I thought we came out strong,” Forbush Coach Rachel Davis said. “I was really nervous after last night.” The Falcons lost 5-4 to South Stokes Tuesday.

“Our girls continued to hit,” Davis said. “I told them not to get comfortable.”

Wood drove in her runs with two home runs - a three-run dinger in the second a solo shot in the fourth. Mitchell had a two-run double in the first and a two-run homer in the fourth.

Mitchell was one of four Falcons to record three hits. The others were Regan Gentry, Savannah Yale, and Taylor Wooten.

Sydney Miller came on in relief of Wooten in the second inning for Forbush. Miller went four innings, allowing three hits, no runs, and striking out four. She did not walk a batter.

“Sydney came in and did a very good job,” Davis said.

“They’ve always been good,” Starmount Coach Sarah Boles said of Forbush. “They’ve got talented players all the way around.

“We knew it would be tough.” It’s a quality team; a quality program.”

It was the first time Boles had faced the school she graduated from in 2001. In fact, Boles was the catcher at Forbush when Davis was the pitcher.

“It didn’t feel funny,” Boles said. “I’ve been out long enough. It wasn’t too bad.

“In a way it felt a little bit different, but I felt at home on this side.”
