Elkin and Statesville employees of Yadkin Bank are in mourning after learning the husband of their CIO was killed Monday night in an alleged hit-and-run.

Kyle Clifton Eller III, 53, of Statesville, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash on Barry Oak Road, between Longview and Barnhill roads, said North Carolina Highway Patrol.

N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. Zeb Stroup said it is believed that the vehicle that struck Eller was a 2011-14 Ford F250 or F350 truck.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in a curve on Barry Oak Road, which runs between Mocksville Highway and the Rowan County line.

Stroup asked that anyone with information call the Highway Patrol dispatch at 1-800-445-1779.

Eller is married to Kristi A. Eller, executive vice president and chief information officer for Yadkin Bank.

“This is not a good day in the Yadkin family. I’ve called and spoken with Kristi… She’s part of a very strong faith-based family. We know how difficult this process is for her. We deeply extend our condolences,” said Mark DeMarcus, chief operating officer, Yadkin Bank.

“We’re stunned. It’s not a good day for us around here,” said Carolyn Holcomb of Yadkin Bank in Elkin. “We’re all in mourning.”

According to other bank employees entering and exiting the bank operations center in downtown Elkin, they said getting through the death was difficult because the bank is one close family.
