MOUNT AIRY — There will be $10,000 on the line Feb. 21, when The Shepherd’s House holds its annual fundraiser at Cross Creek Country Club.
The yearly drawdown will feature entertainment from the trio Mezza Voce, a silent auction, a dollar auction area, and a special drawing for a quilt made by Karen Springthorpe.
“This is going to be an incredible evening with a great prize,” the Rev. Phil Goble Jr., executive director for The Shepherd’s House, said on Tuesday. “Last year, we had four people leave the event sharing the $10,000 prize. This year, who knows what will happen. It is a prize anybody would be thrilled to win!”
Tickets for the drawdown are $100 each. Tickets for the dinner and entertainment portion of the evening are available for $35 each. Table reservations are available.
In addition, this year there will be special tables sold for $2,500. The Winner’s Circle tables will feature eight dinner tickets and four drawdown tickets and include a special reserved table with its own wait staff to serve that group for the evening.
“The Winner’s Circle seats will be special,” said Jason Pike, chairman of the Board for The Shepherd’s House. “These tables will have special service and recognition throughout the night. It is a new feature that we believe will be well received.”
Those tables will be within earshot of the night’s entertainment — Mezza Voce. According to its website, Mezza Voce is “an accomplished acoustic trio that delivers a fun and relaxed experience to any event.” The three members of the group have a combined 35 years of musical experience that includes a solid grounding in music theory. The trio has traveled the East Coast performing in events ranging from festivals to weddings, clubs and other special events.
“Mezza Voce is an exceptional group with a great sound,” said Tammy Gravley, chairwoman of the fundraising committee for The Shepherd’s House. “They perform all styles of music.”
The event also will feature a silent auction, featuring such items as an autographed Miami Dolphins football and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill basketball, a mink coat, a stay at a beach house, and more. The dollar-ticket tables will have numerous items from businesses and individuals around the area.
All proceeds from the event go to benefit The Shepherd’s House, the homeless shelter in Mount Airy. Since opening in 2003, The Shepherd’s House has helped more than 1,400 women, children and families. The shelter has provided more than 108,000 meals and more than 35,000 nights of shelter.
“For more than a decade, The Shepherd’s House has been around to help those who find themselves in times of distress,” Goble said. “It is amazing to see how much support the shelter has from so many sectors of our community. It truly is our community shelter.”
