A Michigan man faced a court appearance in Yadkinville Wednesday after being arrested by Jonesville Police the day before.

Scott Joseph Marino, 47, of Utica, Mich. was arrested Aug. 13 on an outstanding warrant from his home state as part of a routine check by officers at the Food Lion parking lot.

Marino was charged with misdemeanor “contempt of court, perjury, court violations.”

Officer John Phipps made the arrest following a routine check of the vehicle in which Marino and another person were travelling, according to an incident report with the Jonesville Police.

According to his report, Phipps checked the registration of the vehicle then stopped it for a routine check of the driver and the passenger’s information. Marino was the passenger.

The return information showed there to be an outstanding warrant on Marino from Michigan, according to the report.

“Yadkin County C-com confirmed the warrant with the entering agency and it was given as full extradition,” Phipps wrote in the report.

Marino was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday after being confined in the Yadkin County Jail with no bond.

Michigan residents routinely hold up their hand and point to where they are from, as the state resembles a gloved hand. Utica is along the “thumb,” roughly thirty minutes north of Detroit.
