A wreck on the intersection of Highway 268 and Austin Traphill Road resulted in a vehicle rollover and a trapped passenger.
Authorities said that the wreck occurred in the middle of the day on Thursday.
Both the Elkin Police Department and the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
First responders safely removed the unidentified passenger of a white Ford F-250. The passenger and driver of the vehicle were rushed to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, confirmed Joe Johnson with the Pleasant Hill Fire Department.
“One vehicle was rolled over. The other vehicle had the passenger trapped. That’s all we can release at this time. Any other details, you can get that through the Elkin Police Department,” said Joe Johnson, assistant chief of the Pleasant Hill Fire Department.
“Injuries were sustained,” said Johnson.
The second vehicle involved in the wreck was a white Toyota 4Runner.
The driver of the 4Runner was unidentified and not on scene.
A trailer was also disengaged from the impact of the accident and positioned closest to the 4Runner, but as of press time The Tribune was unable to confirm which vehicle was towing the trailer.
The Elkin Police Department is investigating the matter.
