Lindsay Reagan Gouge of Thurmond was crowned Junior Miss Dance USA 2014 at The USA National Dance Championships held June 14-16.


Lindsay is a dance student at Rhythm on Main Dance Academy in Elkin under the direction of Will Shover. She also attends East Wilkes Middle School where she will be an eighth grade student this upcoming year. Lindsay is a member of the school chorus and an “A” Honor Roll student.


Lindsay also holds a black belt in Karate, which she earned from Karate International of Elkin.


Lindsay began taking dance in 2006 and takes weekly dance classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical. She is a member of the Rhythm Company Competition Team, which has won numerous awards. Lindsay won Preliminary Awards in photogenic, interview, class, and solo to capture the national title. For her solo routine, she performed a jazz routine to “Pause,” choreographed by Kristy Woodruff Neely, for which she also placed third overall Junior Competitive Solo at the national championships. Lindsay also performed her lyrical solo, “I Won’t Give Up” that placed 5th overall Junior Competitive Solo, also choreographed by Kristy Woodruff Neely.


Lindsay is the daughter of Lorrie Ann and Walter Tyrone Gouge of Thurmond, granddaughter of Tressie Young and the late Lawrence E. Young Sr, and Sharon Willis all of Winston Salem.


Miss Dance USA National Titles Scholarship Program was founded in 2008 and has grown to become a well-known and nationally recognized titles competition for young dancers in the following age groups: Mini Miss Dance 5-7, Petite Miss Dance 8-10 years, Junior Miss Dance 11-12 years, Teen Miss Dance 13-15 years, and Miss Dance USA 16-21 years. The finalist that compete at the national finals participate in four categories: photogenic, interview, an audition class (focused on ballet and jazz technique), and their solo routine.


Lindsay will get to travel to dance conventions, where she will get to assist master instructors and choreographers from across the country, and she will travel to regional dance competitions to perform, MC, and help with awards presentations. This will be a very exciting year for Lindsay Gouge as Junior Miss Dance USA 2014.
