According to Alvin Hayes of Yadkin Valley Sewer Authority, Elkin had received 2.25 inches of rain as of 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Due to the slow steady drizzle on Friday and the heavier thunderstorms heard Friday night, some Elkin city streets were flooded and marked off for safety. Here, Robert and Joel Bray of Hamptonville use the shallow water as an opportunity to rinse the undercarriage of their Chevy truck before finishing off at the car wash on Standard Street.

The recent rain cause the waterfalls behind the Elkin Library to roar over the dam wall and crash to the rocks below.
