A four vehicle wreck on Monday afternoon at Spring and Church streets resulted in three people being sent to the hospital.

According to police, a PT Cruiser traveling north on Church Street slammed into a Ford Taurus causing a domino effect of damage. The Ford Taurus hit a Buick Park Avenue, which clipped a Chevy Malibu.

The PT Cruiser was driven by Rondal Lee Sweet, 26, of Elkin.

Sweet was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid collision, operating a vehicle with no insurance and driving a vehicle with a revoked license, according to Officer Church with the Elkin Police Department.

Sweet, along with a passenger in the PT Cruiser, and the driver of the Ford Taurus were taken to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
