RONDA — The Clingman Medical Center Board of Directors recently announced the 2016 recipients of the annual scholarship awards. The board provides the scholarships annually to students pursuing studies in a medical-related field.

This year nine students were chosen as recipients.

Chandler Bare is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. He is attending Lenoir-Rhyne University and Wilkes Community College, pursuing studies in the nursing program. He is the son of Robert and Suzanne Bare of Hamptonville.

Kayte Wiles is a graduate of Wilkes Early College High School. She is attending Liberty University and is pursuing studies in the pre-occupational therapy program. She is the daughter of Chip and Shelia Wiles of North Wilkesboro.

Seth Longbottom is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. He is attending Appalachian State University and plans to pursue studies in the communication disorders program. He is the son of Tracy and Dawn Longbottom of Hays.

Sidney Johnson is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. She is attending Lenoir-Rhyne and Wilkes Community College, pursuing studies in the nursing program. She is the daughter of Tim and Denita Johnson of Wilkesboro.

Katie St. John is a graduate of Starmount High School. She is planning to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to pursue studies in nursing. She is the daughter of Michael and Cathy St. John of Jonesville.

Olivia Bullard is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. She is planning to attending Laurel University to pursue studies in radiology. She is the daughter of Suzanne Felts of Ronda

McKenna Major is a graduate of Elkin High School. She is planning to attend the University of North Carolina Charlotte to pursue studies in nursing. She is the daughter of Kenny Major of Charlotte and Dana Reece of Elkin.

Ana Reeves is a graduate of Wilkes Central High School. She plans to attend Liberty University and pursue nursing. She is the daughter of Fletcher and Sherry Reeves of Wilkesboro.

Jake Shore is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. He is attending Wilkes Community College and is pursuing nursing studies. He is the son of Jeff and Wanda Shore of Hamptonville.

The Clingman Medical Center is in the Clingman community of Wilkes County and assists patients from Wilkes, Yadkin, Surry and other surrounding counties. It is an associate of the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. The center employs two doctors with decades of experience to provide the greatest care to their patients.
