RONDA — The Clingman Medical Center Board of Directors has announced the 2015 recipients of the annual scholarship awards. The board provides the scholarships annually to students pursuing studies in a medical-related field.

This year seven students were chosen as recipients

Chandler Bare is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. He is attending Lenoir-Rhyne University and is pursuing studies in the nursing program. He is the son of Robert and Suzanne Barr of Hamptonville.

Michelle Cummings is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. She is attending UNC-Chapel Hill and is pursing studies in the pharmacy program. She is the daughter of Michael and Ruby Cummings of Ronda.

Karmon West is a graduate of North Wilkes High School. She is attending Lenoir-Rhyne University and plans to pursue studies in the physician assistant program. She is the daughter of Barry and Teresa West of Hays.

Kayte Wiles is a graduate of Wilkes Early College High School. She is attending Liberty University and plans to pursue studies in the biomedical science program. She is the daughter of Chip and Shelia Wiles of North Wilkesboro.

Amanda O’Donnell is a graduate of Starmount High School. She is attending UNC-Greensboro and plans to pursue studies in the nursing program. She is the daughter of Russell and Lisa O’Donnell of Jonesville.

Seth Longbottom is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. He is attending Appalachian State University and plans to pursue studies in the community disorders program. He is the son of Tracy and Dawn Longbottom of Hays.

Sidney Johnson is a graduate of East Wilkes High School. She is attending Appalachian State University and is pursuing studies in the nursing program. She is the daughter of Tim and Denita Johnson of Wilkesboro.

The Clingman Medical Center is in the Clingman community of Wilkes County and assists patients from Wilkes, Yadkin, Surry and other surrounding counties. It is an associate of the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. The center employs two doctors with decades of experience to provide the greatest care to their patients.
