Students get ‘powerful’ lesson

Copeland Elementary School fourth-grade students were visited by Adam Martin and Randy White from Surry-Yadkin EMC. The fourth grade was shown a high voltage safety demonstration with a miniature display which helps students understand the importance of electrical safety. This visit correlated with the unit in which students were learning about electrical circuits, insulators and conductors. After the presentation, students had a new respect for the “power” of electricity and how dangerous the lineman’s jobs are when working on power lines. Here, Pamela Ocampo tries on safety gloves.
