Elkin High School students will be featured on Thursday in a program sponsored by Watershed NOW and Authoring Action. The event entitled “Voices on Water” is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Elkin High School in the media center.
A short film will be shown which features the words and voices of April Swarey’s freshman English students as they advocate for protecting rivers and streams. The students participated in Creek Week 2016, an effort to clean up area waterways. The public is invited to this free event.
“It was wonderful to see teens take an interest in their environment and begin to understand their role of responsibility as good stewards,” Swarey said. “‘Voices on the Water’ reveals the hope of a new generation in the possibilities of a healthy world that can be sustained for us all.”
