The 24th annual God and Country celebration took place on Saturday with a parade, music, gospel singing, music by Cimarron and kids having lots of fun on a long water slide.

The evening concluded with the annual fireworks celebration.

Lee Stimpson, Ron Tuttle, and Danny Hilton were in attendance representing Rolling Thunder Chapter 6 POW-MIA organization.

They reminded that there are still 83,000 prisoners of war that should not be forgotten during the God and Country celebration.

“Our mission is to bring everyone home and never forget them,” they said.

Youth Jacob Slater, Mercy Salter and Eli Stewart said they had a great day at the rainbow waterslide and enjoyed the pool at the end.

Musicians Bobby Lane and George Hennings wanted people to know that playing at God and Country meant to them that veterans will not be forgotten and that “Our freedom is precious.”

East Bend Mayor Larry Adams said, “It is a beautiful day, and I thank God for the weather.”
