DOBSON — Surry Community College will soon honor and celebrate the achievements of its students during spring commencement ceremonies.


According to a press release, SCC President Dr. David Shockley will be delivering the commencement address to the 141 students who are expected to participate. The graduation ceremony will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville.


SCC’s Nursing Pinning Ceremony was scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Peace Haven Baptist Church, Yadkinville. The associate degree nursing graduates received their pins and diplomas at that time. These students will be eligible to sit for the national examination leading to licensure as a registered nurse. The rising second-year nursing students will also be honored for completion of the first year of nursing school, which will be signified by the placement of the first stripe on their nursing cap. Nursing graduates have two stripes.
