GREENSBORO — Two NewBridge Bank executives will assume leadership roles with Yadkin Bank when the merger of Yadkin Financial Corporation (NYSE: YDKN or “Yadkin”) and NewBridge Bancorp (NASDAQ:NBBC or “NewBridge”) closes in late Q1 or early Q2 2016. Robin S. Hager will be chief administrative officer and Spence H. Broadhurst will be Piedmont commercial banking regional president for the combined bank.
As chief administrative officer, Hager will be responsible for human resources and benefits, marketing and corporate support for the combined bank. She will be based in Greensboro and report to Scott M. Custer, Yadkin Bank’s president and chief executive officer.
As Piedmont commercial banking regional president, Broadhurst will be responsible for the performance and growth of the combined bank in the Piedmont Triad. Also based in Greensboro, Broadhurst will report to Steve Jones, executive vice president and chief banking officer of Yadkin Bank.
“One of the many benefits of the proposed merger is our ability to weave together two leadership teams which are stronger together than either group is alone,” said Custer. “Robin and Spence are invaluable members of their local communities and the banking industry as a whole. We are delighted to welcome them to Yadkin Bank and look forward to adding their exemplary leadership skills and vocational expertise to the management team of North Carolina’s largest community bank.”
Hager has been in the banking industry for 31 years serving in leadership positions in both sales and bank operations including: operations manager; retail sales manager; senior vice president of retail bank administration; and executive vice president, human resources, marketing and training. Since 2008 she has led NewBridge Bank’s seven departments which support overall bank operations comprising corporate and administrative services, facilities, human resources, information technology, deposit operations, marketing and vendor management. A native of Hickory, she is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Broadhurst is a 33-year banking veteran having held local and regional leadership positions throughout the state including market president roles in Wake Forest, Salisbury, Wilmington, and Greensboro. In addition to his banking responsibilities, he served as mayor of Wilmington from 2003 to 2006. Immediately prior to joining NewBridge Bank in 2011, he led the commercial real estate line of business for North and South Carolina for a national financial services provider. Broadhurst has managed NewBridge Bank’s banking group and subsequent sales initiatives since 2013. During this time he has overseen double-digit organic loan and deposit growth. Born in Wilson, he is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge.
On Oct. 12, 2015 NewBridge entered into a definitive merger agreement with Yadkin, pursuant to which Yadkin will acquire NewBridge. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory and shareholder approvals.
