At the conclusion of the annual year-end planning meeting, Prism Medical Products announced once again it is planning to create at least 45 new local jobs in 2016. This comes as Prism continues to excel aggressively as a national industry leader of durable medical supplies.
“Our growth rate is so thrilling to watch,” said James St. Cyr, vice president of Operations for Prism. “The demand for our services continues to climb and we are eager to provide patients with the highest level of service.”
Founded in Elkin in 2006, Prism Medical Products is a third party supply distributor of durable medical supplies which focuses on wound care, ostomy and urological products. It receives referrals from a variety of health care providers and supplies their patients with needed supplies within 24 hours. Prism then works with the patient’s health insurance plan provider to obtain payment for the supplies, usually resulting in little-to-no out-of-pocket cost for the patient.
Last month Prism opened yet another new distribution center in Albany, New York, and has plans for one more in Des Moines, Iowa, by the end of the second quarter 2016.
“Being able to serve patients in all time zones is vital to our national plan,” said Director of Logistics and Facilities Jason Parks. “Our goal is to be open and accessible to our clients no matter where they live in the country.”
In 2015, Prism created more than 30 new positions in the Elkin based corporate headquarters which now includes a newly renovated building on downtown’s Main Street.
“Our new building was an excellent addition that came about due to the overflow of employees in the 112 Church street location” said St. Cyr. “We are not planning on slowing down anytime soon and now we just need to fill every seat in the building!”

Prism is aggressively recruiting for both national and local positions to fill in March and beyond. Desired experience for these positions includes telephone customer service, medical administration, data entry and medical billing. Ideal expertise would include, but not be limited to leadership experience, independent decision-making skills, the ability to problem-solve, training or development of others, effective communication skills, higher-level education, self-motivation, professional aspiration and the desire to excel.
“We do have certain skills that we are looking for,” said Elisha Hall, director of Human Resources and Compliance, “but we want to talk to anyone with a strong work ethic and goals aligned with the direction of our company.”
