KERNERSVILLE — Interested in improving transit options in Yadkin and Surry counties? In June, the Northwest Piedmont Rural Planning Organization (NWPRPO), in cooperation with stakeholders, the Yadkin Valley Economic Development District (YVEDDI), and the NC Department of Transportation, embarked on a locally coordinated public transit — human services transportation plan.
The plan identifies needs, gaps and strategies for improving public transportation services, particularly for older adults, persons with disabilities, and low-income individuals. The planning process is now winding down, and the recommendations for future transportation improvements are available for public review. Planning documents are available at www.ptrc.org/lcp and a hard copy is available on request.
Everyone with an interest in improving transportation options is encouraged to review the identified transit needs, gaps, and strategies as well as share their comments on the plan. The Northwest Piedmont Rural Planning Organization provides transportation planning services and technical assistance to Davie, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin Counties. The Piedmont Triad Regional Council serves as the lead planning agency for the RPO.
Citizens can provide comments by calling the NWPRPO coordinator at 336-904-0300, emailing comments to [email protected] or mailing written comments to: Elizabeth Jernigan, Piedmont Triad Regional Council, 1398 Carrollton Crossing Drive, Kernersville, NC 28284.
