YVUF ‘Dine Out’ exceeds $5,200

The Yadkin Valley United Fund “Dine Out” campaign at 17 local restaurants held Aug. 18-29 will exceed $5,200, David Steelman, executive director, reported.

Last year 14 restaurants’ “Dine Out” campaign raised $3,600.

Steelman expressed thanks to participating eateries — Dodge City Steakhouse, Speedy Chef, Terry’s Café & Catering, 222 Public House, Woodbox BBQ, Shiki of Elkin, Harry’s Place, Theo’s, 67 Pizza, 268 Grill, Prime Thai, Cedarbrook Grill, Mazzini’s, Pirate’s Landing, Breakfastime, Bojangles’ Jonesville, and John Boy’s BBQ & Seafood — for giving 10 percent of their receipts on their scheduled day.

The YVUF goal for 2017 is $170,000 compared to 2016 goal of $150,000.

The 25 nonprofit agencies who will receive funds in 2017 serves the communities of Arlington, Jonesville, Elkin, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond and Traphill. The 25 partner agencies are listed on the YVUF website. The YVUF also provides scholarships to one senior each at East Wilkes, Elkin and Starmount high schools.

The YVUF is a qualifying 501(c)(3)non-profit organization. There are five ways to donate: (1) Mail check to YVUF, P.O. Box 593, Elkin, NC 28621; (2) Online thru Website – click donate online tab; (3) Payroll Deduction where available through employer; (4) Drop off donation at YVUF office, 968 N. Bridge St., Elkin; (5) Donate through other United Way or United Fund organizations and designate YVUF.
