Noah Torriente, an Elkin Middle School eighth-grader, makes a fall wreath Friday during the school’s annual Service Day. The wreaths were taken in the afternoon to Chatham Nursing Center where they will be used as decorations. They featured words of encouragement and praise. Other service projects included a free car wash, learning CPR and a stroke awareness class. The entire school had a picnic at Elkin Municipal Park, and in the afternoon other activities took place, such as the chorus visiting Chatham Nursing Center to entertain residents there.
