July 29

• 6:30 p.m. until, Grassy Creek United Methodist Church will have a Vacation Bible School under the stars, with hot dogs and hamburgers with fixings and desserts served for dinner, a petting zoo, crafts, Bible story skits around a campfire. Those attending should bring a lawn chair.

July 30

• 10 a.m. until, White Rock United Methodist Church in Thurmond will hold a Port -A-Pit BBQ chicken sale at the church. Plates will be $9 and include half a chicken, slaw, baked beans, a roll and a dessert. Half a chicken will be $6. For more information, call 336-957-4596.

• 6 p.m., Wesley Chapel CME Church, 210 Oak Grove Road, Elkin, will feature Chosen Ministries in concert.

July 31

• 6 p.m., Cool Springs Baptist Church, Elkin, will host Shellem Cline in concert.

Aug. 6

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fall Creek Baptist Church, Fall Creek Church Road, Jonesville, will host a children’s ministry conference sponsored by the Child Evangelism Fellowship. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $15, and meal is included. Advanced registration is requested at 336-835-4049.

Aug. 20

• 5 p.m., the senior adult Sunday school class of Jonesville First United Methodist Church will host a community hot dog supper and fundraiser. Cost is donations for all-you-can-eat meal.


• 7:30 p.m., Northwood Baptist Church, 1309 Northwood Baptist Church Road, Yadkinville, a youth camp has evolved into a nightly tent revivial under the leadership of Jonathan Barker, pastor of Amazing Grace Church. For more information, call Barker at 336-466-6242.

• 6 to 8 p.m., Abstract Church, 1785 N. Bridge St., Elkin, hosts Kitchen 9:13, a free community meal for everyone, each second Monday of the month.

• 5 p.m., Christ Lutheran Church has a free community meal on the fourth Monday of each month at 451 Winston Road, Jonesville.

• 7 p.m., Abstract Church, 1785 N. Bridge St., Elkin, hosts Celebrate Recovering, a ministry designed to help hurting people, each Saturday. Trained leaders provide safe, confidential, Christ-centered groups where people can seek recovery and gain healing from life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups. The group is free. Information should include date, time, place, brief description and contact information, if necessary. Calendars are published as space permits and do not run in every issue of the paper.
