A husband-and-wife dispute ended with the husband being charged Thursday after the vehicle he was driving hit the woman.

Crystal Lynn Shore, 34, of Green Valley Street, North Wilkesboro, sustained injuries during the incident which occurred at the intersection of North Bridge Street and Hawthorne Road at about 12:20 p.m., according to an incident report by Officer T.W. Rose of the Elkin Police Department.

Both Shore and her husband, Jeffery Wayne Shore, 46, also of Green Valley Street, reported to Rose that they had been arguing leading up to the incident. “Mr. Shore stated that he and his wife had been arguing all day and began to argue again as they drove down Hawthorne Road from Chatham Woods Apartments,” reported Rose.

Crystal Shore said she got out of the vehicle to walk back to the apartments when they began arguing in the car, and reported as she did her husband “backed up and ran her over.”

According to the officer’s report, Jeffery Shore “stated that he ‘did not mean to bump into her.’”

Rose reported severe lacerations to Crystal Shore with a large amount of blood visible inside of the passenger door of the car and on the dashboard, and on Crystal Shore’s knees and elbows and smeared on her face with bruising on her face.

“As [Jeffery Shore] attempted to exit [the vehicle], I observed that Mr. Shore was unsteady on his feet,” Rose said in his report.

Jeffery Shore was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present, driving while impaired and was cited with careless and reckless driving.
