ELKIN — Friday will mark the kick-off of Yadkin Valley Wine Festival weekend with the annual Yadkin Valley Wine Auction and Gala. This annual event benefits the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Foundation and has long been associated with wine festival weekend.
This year’s auction will begin at 6 p.m. at The Liberty, located at 222 E. Main St. in downtown Elkin. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes a pass to attend the wine festival on Saturday. Private tables for 10 may be reserved for an additional $100. One hundred and twenty-five drawdown tickets for a Caribbean cruise will be sold as well. In addition to a live auction, the event will feature a buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvres, local wines and live music.
Vicki Holcomb Clark, executive director of the Hugh Chatham Foundation and Community Development, said the goal for the foundation’s annual campaign this year is to raise $60,000 and the proceeds from this event will contribute to that goal.
“We intend to place 30 life-saving automated external defibrillators in churches and non-profit organizations in Alleghany, Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin counties,” Clark said. “We hope that you will see the value of this foundation initiative to save people in our region from cardiac arrest and will join us in this important work by attending the 2016 Wine Auction and Gala.”
Items on the auction block include travel packages, pottery, jewelry and more. For tickets, call 336-527-7094.
