Ride, bike show set for Saturday

An 80-mile charity motorcycle ride will culminate in a bike show in downtown Elkin Saturday afternoon.

The ride, to benefit cancer patient Vikki Marcell with some of the proceeds going to the St. Jude Hospital, will begin at the Yadkin Moose Lodge, 1432 Country Club Road, Yadkinville, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. and kickstands up at 1 p.m., and end on West Main Street in Elkin. Cost for the ride is $20 plus $5 for each passenger.

Activities in downtown Elkin will begin at 3 p.m., with riders arriving around 3:30 or 4 p.m., explained organizer Farando “Sly” Best. The activities include food, face painting, and live music with Metro Jethros performing on the balcony over The Liberty building parking lot while DJ Holmes will be spinning in the parking lot west of Midtown Barber Shop on Main Street.

The bike show will include first place trophies and plaques for Best Cruiser, Best Sport Bike and Best Custom Paint. Cars and bikes can enter the Best Custom Paint category.

The Pink Heals chapter in the Piedmont will have its pink patrol car on hand during the event as well.

Sponsors include 222 Public House, Unique Transportations, Outfitters, Midtown Barber Shop, town of Elkin, CW Electric Inc., Yadkin Moose Lodg, ISMC, SRM Paintwerks, Pink Heals and Mazzini’s restaurant.
