• 7 a.m., the Habitat Hammer half marathon and 5K run/walk will be held at the Elkin Rec Center to benefit Upper Yadkin Valley Habitat for Humanity. A free kids’ family fun run will be held at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K and half marathon slated to start at 8 a.m. Registration is $30 for the 5K and $50 for the half marathon. • 9 a.m., the Wilkes County Democratic Party will hold its annual convention at the Wilkes County Courthouse, 500 Courthouse Drive, Wilkesboro. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Democrats will be electing delegates to the upcoming district and state conventions. The convention program will include remarks by Dr. June Atkinson, the N.C. superintendent of Public Instruction, and Charles Meeker, candidate for North Carolina commissioner of labor. All Democrats can attend, and elected precinct delegates can participate in the official business of the Wilkes Democratic Party.

• 10 a.m., the Yadkin Valley Trailriders will host a benefit horse and wagon ride followed by a dinner at 5 p.m. to raise funds for the trail to Stone Mountain State Park. The event will take place at Henry Key Farm, 815 Mountain Park Road, State Road, with riders and wagons taking part in a 14-mile ride. Cost for riders is $25 in advance or $30 at the gate, and includes the pinto bean and chicken stew supper. Those wishing to eat only can do so for $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. There will be bluegrass, old-time, blues and gospel musicians from across North Carolina performing. In case of rain, the event will be in the gym of the Elkin Rec Center at the park. There is plenty of space for lawn chairs and blankets. Vendors will be on hand with a variety of food and beverages, and parking is available on-site for a fee. • 9 a.m., Chatham Nursing & Rehabilitation will host the Duncan Dash, a family and pet-friendly fun fun/walk to raise awareness for the Alzheimer’s dementia population at Elkin Municipal Park, Elkin. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a balloon send-off ceremony at 9:45 a.m. at the starting line. The walk begins at 10 a.m. There will be several items raffled off, a hot dog cookout for donations, a bouncy house, face painting and more. Registration is free, T-shirts are $10. The Alzheimer’s Association will receive at least 75 percent of the proceeds collected.

June 11

• The Foothills 5K WetRun will be held at Elkin Municipal Park featuring various water elements soaking runners and then ending the course with a large blow-up water slide. Following the race will be a concert by Christian artists Michael Tait with Newsboys. Medals will be given out following the race as well. Runners can register at the event, or in advance at foothillswetrun.com. Proceeds benefit CauseLife and will be used to build wells, providing clean water in third-world countries.

June 20

Hours are Monday and Wednesday noon to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
