After serving the Elkin community for a year and a half, the Hugh Chatham Express Care on North Bridge Street will be closing its doors, merging with its larger counterpart at Hugh Chatham Urgent Care in Jonesville.
Friday at closing will be the express care’s last time serving patients, according to a letter from Paul Hammes, CEO of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, directed employees, medical staff and volunteers.
“The employees at this location will transition to other roles with our organization,” said Hammes.
“The Express Care in Elkin will close after seeing patients tomorrow,” said Cynthia Charles, executive director of marketing and communications for HCMH, “but people won’t have to travel far to get to the urgent care in Jonesville which has easy parking as well as services like x-ray, laboratory, family medicine, occupational health and orthopedic and sports medicine services that were not available at the Elkin location.”
In addition to announcing the closure of the Elkin office, Hammes announced Hugh Chatham will soon open a new Hugh Chatham Urgent Care office at 912 S. State St. in Yadkinville, “to better serve residents and employers in the eastern part of Yadkin County as well as those who might choose to travel there from western Davie and Forsyth counties.”
Already a Hugh Chatham Express Care facility is operating in Dobson beside Just Save near the county government offices. This facility opened in the fall of 2015.
“I thank everyone who helped plan, open and support our first express care location, right here in Elkin,” Hammes said in the letter. “It has been a great success and literally opened the door into a new era of convenient, quality care for our patients. Our commitment to flexibly meet the community’s evolving healthcare needs remains steadfast, and I am especially grateful to our providers and our clinical and support staff whose dedication makes all the difference for those who entrust us with their lives, each and every day.”
Hugh Chatham Urgent Care in Jonesville is available for walk-in care Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
