The Yadkin Valley United Fund annual celebration event is set for April 9 at Cedarbrook Country Club.
David Steelman, executive director, said, in announcing the event, the dinner banquet is to honor the individuals and businesses who donated or pledged $500 or more, businesses and corporations who encourage and offer payroll deduction, the fund’s larger partner/agencies, as well as the YVUF Board of Directors.
The 2016 campaign goal was $150,000. So far the actual pledges and donations have exceeded $175,000.
Steelman also said it is never too late to make a donation or increase one’s existing pledge to the $500-plus level for the current year. Ann Ashman of Life Store is the president and Barry Cleary of Weyerhaeuser is the president-elect.
The YVUF operating year is June 1 to May 31 each year. The 2017 fundraising campaign will begin early August through mid-November, 2016. The YVUF serves the communities of Arlington, Elkin, Jonesville, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond and Traphill by providing funding for 25 local nonprofit partner agencies.
The YVUF also provides a scholarship to one outgoing senior at each of the local high schools — East Wilkes, Elkin and Starmount.
Applications for funding and scholarship request can be found on the YVUF website: Yadkinvalleyunitedfund.org. The YVUF expressed thanks to the record number of businesses and record number of individuals who pledged and donated to this year’s campaign.
