Walmart donates plants

Sweet potato vines fill the planters on Main Street thanks to a donation made by Walmart.

The planters located downtown are now full of bright, leafy vegetation thanks to a donation from Walmart.

The donation for the downtown planters included the sweet potato vines and the Million Bells, which are the mini-petunias.

Downtown Elkin will be a little more colorful thanks to a donation received for the planters that are used on Main Street.

According to Main Street and Community Manager Laura Gaylord, Trent Holbrook, the manager of Walmart, and Garden Center Manager Emily Cranfield donated flowers for the downtown planters for the second consecutive year.

“This is the second year in a row that they have been so gracious to help our downtown community look beautiful and colorful, and we really appreciate their thoughtful gesture,” said Gaylord. “Their donation included the sweet potato vines (bright green leafy vine) and the Million Bells, which are the mini-petunias.”
