Through Dec. 24

• Dewey’s Bakery items will be sold by the Forbush High School Marching Band’s Boosters at Collide Church, 234 E. Main St., Yadkinville, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20. Items sold will include sugar cake, Moravian cookies, cheese straws, gift baskets and more.

Dec. 14

• 5 to 6:30 p.m., Elkin High School JROTC will host a spaghetti dinner in the cafeteria prior to the high school and middle school Christmas band concert. The money raised will allow the cadets to go to Raven Knob for rappelling and canoeing and attend competitive Raider and drill meets. • 2:30 to 7 p.m., blood drive will be held at Yadkin County Rescue Squad, 1116 W. Main St., Yadkinville.

Dec. 17

• 10 a.m., Elkin Public Library, 111 N. Front St., Elkin, hosts its Book Babies program lasting 20 to 25 minutes each Thursday for children age birth to 24 months and their caregiver. They are free.

• 7 p.m., the Surry Community College practical nursing graduation will take place at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1421 Little Mountain Church Road, Ararat.

Dec. 18

• 10 a.m. for 2- and 3-year-olds; 11 a.m. for 4- and 5-year-olds, Elkin Public Library, 111 N. Front St., Elkin, hosts its Preschool Story Hour each Friday. The theme is Singing with Santa.

• 12:30 to 5 p.m., blood drive will be held at Yadkinville UMC, 204 W. Main St., Yadkinville.

• 6 to 9:30 p.m., the Wilkes Art Gallery, 913 C St., North Wilkesboro, will host its Holly Jolly Christmas Party with music provided by Stretch Marks Reunion. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., with music at 7 p.m. Cost is $40 for a single ticket, and $70 for two. Those attending are asked to bring a new and unwrapped toy for H.O.P.E. Ministries. • 2 to 6:30 p.m., blood drive will be held at Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church, 344 York Road, Mount Airy.

Jan. 16

• 3 to 7 p.m., a benefit spaghetti dinner for Doug and April Williams will be held at the West Yadkin VFW Post on U.S. 21. Doug Williams was injured Sept. 7 while taking down a deer stand and will not be able to return to work full-time until late 2016. The event will include a meal for donations only, an auction, silent auction and raffle. Donations will be used to help with family and medical expenses. The fundraiser is sponsored by Windsor’s Crossroads Ruritan Club, Charity Bible, Cranberry Baptist, Fishing Creek Baptist, Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist and Miller’s Creek Baptist churches. • Members of the Yadkin Valley Rotary Club are now selling tickets for the annual New Year’s Day lunch at the First United Methodist Church, 340 Hawthorne Road, Elkin. The club will serve a traditional meal of country ham, collard greens, black-eyed peas, cornbread, coffee/tea and dessert. Serving hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Quart bags of collard greens may be purchased for $5 per bag. Also, drawings for free door prizes will be held every half hour during serving hours. Must be present to win. Proceeds from the lunch will benefit the club’s scholarship program. Each year a scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior in each of the area high schools: East Wilkes, Starmount and Elkin. Recipients are chosen based on their leadership in the community. • Friendly Consignment Store, a not-for-profit consignment shop beside the Arlington Fire Department in Jonesville, provides new and gently-used items with proceeds donated to several local charities and groups. Hours are Monday and Wednesday noon to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• 10 a.m., line dance class is being held each Monday at the Yadkin Valley Senior Center, 121 Delos Martin Drive, Jonesville, with Shirley Bell as instructor.

• 5 to 8 p.m., clogging classes are being held every Monday at the Yadkin Valley Senior Center, 121 Delos Martin Drive, Jonesville, with beginners from 5 to 6 p.m., intermediate from 6 to 7 p.m. and team practice from 7 to 8 p.m. Cost is $20 per month and it’s open to those 10 and older. • 6 to 8 p.m., each Monday, DivorceCare is a support group that meets at 147 Carter Mill Road, Elkin. It is designed for those hurting from the pain of separation and/or divorce. This group will begin meeting Aug. 17. For more information, call Gwen at 336-244-4682.

• Noon to 1 p.m., the first Wednesday of each month, a free informational webinar is held for those interested in learning about the Guardian ad Litem program. • 6:30 to 8 p.m., 4G Club – Girls Growing in God’s Grace, is held each Thursday at the Fairfield Inn’s Conference Room in Elkin. It is a meeting for girls 13 to 25 to come together and bond. Regular rap sessions are held about depression, fear, anger, jealously and other topics the girls want to discuss.
