• 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Cowgirls with a Cause will hold a fundraising event at the Lone Hickory Indoor Arena with three days of barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping and men’s barrel racing to kick breast cancer. • Dewey’s Bakery items will be sold by the Forbush High School Marching Band’s Boosters at Collide Church, 234 E. Items sold will include sugar cake, Moravian cookies, cheese straws, gift baskets and more.

Nov. 21

• 9:30 a.m., the Yadkin Go FAR 5K sponsored by Yadkin Family YMCA will begin and end at Collide Church, 234 E. Main St., Yadkinville. The 5K will begin at 9:30 a.m. with awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Registration fee is $30 from now through Nov. 20 and $35 day of the event. • 5 to 8 p.m., The ARK will hold its major fundraiser, Cardboard City, at Elkin Municipal Park. The ARK provides shelter and services to those who find themselves homeless.

• 7 p.m., Tellabration, a worldwide storytelling event, will be held at the Mount Airy Public Library. This is a free event for the public.

• 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Hugh Catham Memorial Hospital’s volunteer and auxiliary departments are hosting a Masquerade $5 jewelry and accessories sale in the hospital’s medical staff conference room. Payments are available in cash, credit/debit cards and payroll deducations for Hugh Chatham employees.

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Theo’s Italian & Family Restaurant, Starmount Crossing Shopping Center, Jonesville, will hold its 19th annual Thanksgiving dinner in memory of Keith Combs. The free community meal is assisted by contributions from IFH, Pepsi, US Foods, Graphics Printing and Swift Realtors. • 5:30 p.m., the East Bend Senior Center presents Small Town Christmas at the East Bend Fire Department. There will be pinto beans, chicken stew and desserts. • 5 to 9 p.m., downtown Elkin will host Light Up Night featuring live performances, buggy rides, Santa, a lantern parade, carolers and other activities for children and adults. The tree lighting ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. The Foothills Arts Council will host its Open Air Art Market as well.

• 6 p.m., the annual Yadkinville Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held at Yadkinville Community Park. Light refreshments will be provided along with holiday music.

Dec. 5

• 10 a.m., the Yadkinville Christmas Parade will be held. To join the parade, call the Yadkinville Fire Department at 336-679-8691.

• 4 p.m., the Boonville Parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held with festivities beginning at 4 p.m. and the parade at 5 p.m. Holiday music will be heard throughout Boonville, and there will be food donations of nonperishable foods will be collected for the Yadkin Christian Ministries. Dec. 6

• 2 p.m., the Dobson Lions Club Christmas Parade will be held with parade line-up at 1 p.m. at Surry Community College. There is no registration fee or registration for parade participants. • Friendly Consignment Store, a not-for-profit consignment shop beside the Arlington Fire Department in Jonesville, provides new and gently-used items with proceeds donated to several local charities and groups. Hours are Monday and Wednesday noon to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• 10 a.m., line dance class is being held each Monday at the Yadkin Valley Senior Center, 121 Delos Martin Drive, Jonesville, with Shirley Bell as instructor.

• 5 to 8 p.m., clogging classes are being held every Monday at the Yadkin Valley Senior Center, 121 Delos Martin Drive, Jonesville, with beginners from 5 to 6 p.m., intermediate from 6 to 7 p.m. and team practice from 7 to 8 p.m. Cost is $20 per month and it’s open to those 10 and older. • 6:30 to 8 p.m., 4G Club – Girls Growing in God’s Grace, is held each Thursday at the Fairfield Inn’s Conference Room in Elkin. It is a meeting for girls 13 to 25 to come together and bond.
