June 5

• 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Grapevine Canopy Management Series: Leaf Removal. Learn about the importande of leaf removal in the vineyard. Timing and techniques will be discussed related to leaf removal and practice in the SCC campus vineyard. Gloved, hat, and a bottle of water are recommended. Class will meet in Room 113 of the Shelton-Badgett NC Center for Viticulture & Enology. Class is free and no advanced registration is required. For more information, call 336-386-3618.

• 2:30 to 7 p.m., blood drive will be held at Flat Rock Baptist Church, 3800 Flat Rock Church Road, Hamptonville.

• 6 p.m., Relay for Life will begin at the Elkin Park.

• 6 to 9 p.m., the Elkin Artisan Market/EAM Gallery will feature “OVERFLOW,” its grand opening exhibit featuring painter Jacob Daniels, painter Tim Sheaffer, and potter Melina Daniels. It will be on display through Aug. 1.

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Surry Community Center (Elkin location) will offer a Jelly Roll Race/Lap quilting class. Students will be creating a 65×70 lap-size quilt. Cost is $40 plus supplies. Contact Sonnie Hardy at 336-386-3229.

• 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., blood drive will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 137 Antioch Ave., Mount Airy.

• 5 p.m. until, 1975 graduating class of East Wilkes High School will celebrate its 40th class reunion at the school cafeteria, bring a covered dish. If anyone knows how to contact any class member that didn’t attend the last reunion, contact them and invite them. • 6:30 p.m., Peace Jam, a community gathering to promote peace through music and prayer, will be held at the Peace Pole on West Main Street by Galloway Episcopal Church. Bring an instrument and a lawn chair. Hot dogs and drinks will be served.

• 2 to 6:30 p.m., blood drive will be held at Speedway Road Ruritan Club, 2411 Speedway Road, North Wilkesboro.

June 22-July 10

• Foothills Theatre’s Kidshop Theatre Camp will run at the Foothills Arts Council, 139 Church St., Elkin. Camp will run Monday through Friday. Play performance will be on July 10 and July 11 at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall in Elkin. Tuition is $100 and must be paid at the time of registration. The play title will be announced prior to April 6.

Ongoing

• 6 to 8 p.m., each Monday, DivorceCare is a support group that meets at 147 Carter Mill Road, Elkin. It is designed for those hurting from the pain of separation and/or divorce. This group will begin meeting Jan. 26. For more information, call Gwen at 336-244-4682.

• 6 p.m., a monthly Alzheimer’s support group will be held every second Tuesday at Chatham Nursing & Rehab Center, 700 Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin. If area schools are closed due to inclement weather the group will not meet. For more information, call 336-567-7600.

• Noon to 1 p.m., the first Wednesday of each month, a free informational webinar is held for those interested in learning about the Guardian ad Litem program.
