JONESVILLE — Hampton Inn by Hilton Jonesville/Elkin was granted its 10th Connie award for excellence, receiving top honors over all other properties in the franchise.
This Hilton company award is presented to the top six properties in its franchise based on customer satisfaction and overall performance or the Total Quality Index. “[This award is] more about the team members than the management,” asserted new General Manager Bobby Carter, who stated any credit the management did receive is due to the efforts of previous manager Debra Clark, who had been with the property since it opened in May of 1994. “You don’t win that many awards without being consistent.”
Assistant Manager Regina Adkins agreed it was the staff who made the award possible. “They are the first face [guests] see when they walk in the door,” explained Adkins. “People don’t come within our sight that we don’t speak to them. Our staff is empowered [to make guests comfortable], housekeeping, breakfast, maintenance, everyone.”
It took more than just customer relations to accomplish such a consecutive record winning this award. “We take our cleanliness very seriously,” expounded Adkins, who described amenities unexpected at a hotel such as coffee, popcorn, and other refreshments offered throughout the day. “It’s like being at home and going to the kitchen.”
The attention to decorations also provides a homey atmosphere which, with the friendly greetings of staff, welcomed tourist Pam MacMillan as she walked in to the Hampton. Traveling on a regular trip from her home in Calabash on her way to Asheville, Hilton Honors Member MacMillan stopped at Hampton because of traffic congestion on I-40.
“[People at the Hampton] have been very welcoming,” claimed a smiling MacMillan, who had never stopped in the area before. “We will probably be back because we really like the area.”
