GREENSBORO — The American Red Cross is seeking nominations for heroes — a person who has saved a life, demonstrated extraordinary courage, or exemplifies outstanding humanitarian values. The organization is seeking citizens help to nominate that person for the Salute to Heroes program and help the American Red Cross honor the Piedmont Triad area heroes.
Hero nominees must live, work, or attend school in one of the following Piedmont Triad area 11 counties: Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin. The Salute to Heroes celebration will be held on Sept. 26 at the High Point Theatre, 220 E. Commerce Ave., High Point.
Salute to Heroes will honor individuals from military services — active duty and veterans, law enforcement, emergency services and fire services. In addition, citizen heroes will be honored. Nominees must have performed an act of heroism, demonstrated extraordinary courage, or performed a humanitarian deed(s) within the time frame of December 2014 through April 2017 (with the exception of the military categories. There are no time frame restrictions for either active duty or veteran military members.)
All nominations must be received by April 30. The online nomination form and additional information about Salute to Heroes can be found at www.redcross.org/piedmonttriadheroes. The Salute to Heroes Selection Committee will review the submissions and select the heroes from each category. The categories for awards also can be found on the website.
