Miracle Ear in Jonesville sponsors the Athlete of the Week in the Wednesday edition of The Tribune. For more information, call 366-7327 or 1-800-682-6161 Courtney Groce – Athlete of the Week July 11, 2012 The recent graduate capped her dominating Lady Rams career with 2A All-State and District 7 2A All-District nominations last week by the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association. Groce was also named the District 7 Player of the Year as Starmount’s ace and leadoff hitter. With the selections, Groce finishes her career as a four-time Mountain Valley Conference honoree, three-time all-district nominee and two-time all-state performer. Groce holds several school career records, including innings pitched and strikeouts. She also holds single-season records for innings pitched (165), earned run average (0.55) and strikeouts (216). Groce is now preparing for a college career at in-state Chowan University in Murfreesboro, where she will suit up for the Lady Hawks in the spring. Categories
