• 1 to 8 p.m., the Elkin Roots Music Festival will be held at Elkin Municipal Park, a family-friendly traditional music event sponsored by the Elkin Valley Fiddlers and the Foothills Arts Council. Musicians will perform old-time, bluegrass, gospel, blues and folk music, and there will be jamming in the park. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand as well.

It is a family-friendly cross-country race for funners of all abilities and levels on dirt and grass trails around and through the vineyard. 5K race starts at 6 p.m. with professional timing and age-group, overall and series awards. Kids 1K fun run for those 12 and younger will immediately follow the 5K. There will be live music, food and wine tasting from three wineries for entrants older than 21.
