Wilkes Community Foundation awards local grants

HICKORY — The board of advisors of the Wilkes Community Foundation announced local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund, according to Graham Wyche, board president.

This year’s nonprofit recipients include:

• Adult Enrichment Services of Wilkes, Inc.

• Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission, Inc./Meals on Wheels Wilkes County

• Sheltered Aid to Families in Emergencies (SAFE), Inc.

• Wilkes Adult Developmental Activity Program, Inc.

• Wilkes Art Gallery Inc.

• Wilkes Circles of Care

• Yadkin River Greenway

Wyche thanked the community for its support of the Wilkes Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” he said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported Wilkes County’s community fund.”

The Wilkes Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. In addition to Wyche, board members include: Charlie White (vice-president), Susan Cogdill (secretary-treasurer), Shanna Bell, Michael Cooper, Jr., Kenneth Foster, Bill Harris, Dennis Huggins, Amanda Perry, Jerry Smithey and Scott Young.

Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Community Grantmaking Fund, which is administered by the NCCF. Contributions should be made payable to the Wilkes Community Foundation and mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, 310 N. Center St., Hickory, NC 28601. Contributions can also be made online at nccommunityfoundation.org.
