Danger of hot cars on display

The Elkin Fire Department has had the Safe Kids Surry County vehicle temperature awareness thermometer on display this week, and will have it set up at the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival Saturday. The thermometer shows the bottom number of what the outside temperature is compared to how much hotter it gets inside a closed car, even on cooler days. This week, the nation had its 32nd child death from heat stroke due to being left in a hot car, this number has surpassed last year’s total number of deaths.
