DOBSON — Foothills Food Pantry received a $2,000 grant from the Foothills Chapter of Duke Energy Retirees.

On May 6, the group came to the pantry to present the purchases that were made. The pantry received 20 new lobby chairs, seven metal shelving units, and two new office chairs.

The remainder of the grant funds will be used in the pantry’s parking lot renovations, which will begin in September.

Foothills Food Pantry staff expressed thanks to everyone involved. The way this group worked together and the fun they had in helping was a pleasure to witness, said the pantry’s Coordinator Robin Hardin.

“Many families in Surry County will benefit from our makeover. It has made a great improvement to our facility,” said Hardin.
