YVUF new officers, board elected

David Steelman, executive director, announced the new officers and board members have been elected.

Serving one year terms from June 1, 2016, through May 31, 2017, will be Barry Cleary (Weyerhaeuser) as president, Nathan Lewis (PVH) as president elect, Ron Jester (retired) as vice president, Kristi Eidson (G&B Energy) as treasurer and Ann Ashman (Life Store) as past president.

Casey Morrison (Elkin City Schools), Don Clark (Century 21), and Bill Johnson (Surrey Bank) were all elected as new board members serving a three-year term. They join existing board members Kathy Poteate (HCMH), Laura Oakes (HCMH), Holly Lamm (The Tribune), Ginger Isenhoward (Miracle Ear), Frankie Pardue (YadkinBank), Leon Baskerville (Belk), Phyllis Harris (Harris Leather), and Wayne Moore (Grassy Creek Winery).

The 2017 fundraising campaign will begin in mid-August through mid-November. The YVUF serves the communities of Arlington, Elkin, Jonesville, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond and Traphill by providing funding for 25 to 30 local nonprofit partner agencies as well as three scholarships, one each to a senior at East Wilkes, Elkin, and Starmount high schools.
