Twenty-five area princesses attended a princess training camp at Surry Community College in July. Each day consisted of princess-inspired crafts, dances, songs, and dress up time.

The campers enjoyed the first two days of crafts and music inspired by popular Disney princesses. Surry Community College Cosmetology students assisted in hair and nail designs, giving each little princess the royal treatment.

The young girls also enjoyed story time with Norma Goins, a puppeteer and an instructional assistant in technology services at the college. On the final day, the campers became inspired princesses and arrived to camp in their best princess attire. Upon arrival, they had their hair and make-up done; received crowns, and were then paraded around SCC’s campus during their royal debut. Before leaving, the princesses received their Princess Certification, along with a special camp T-shirt.

“The Princess Camp was such a treat,” says Kasey Martin, coordinator of Student and Community Engagement at Surry Community College. “We had a wonderful time meeting each camper, working with them on beautiful crafts, and transforming each of them into the beautiful princesses they all are inside. We can’t wait to make this camp bigger and better next summer.”
