The Yadkin Valley United Fund annual appreciation event has been set for April 8 at Cedarbrook Country Club, announced David Steelman, executive director, announced.

The dinner banquet is to honor and recognize the individuals and businesses who donated/pledged $500 or more, the current Board of Directors of the YVUF, and other individuals and organizations who made significant contributions to reaching the goal for 2017. The 2017 goal was $170,000 and as of recently, the YVUF has exceeded $195,000.

Steelman said even though the fund has reached its goal, it is never too late for those who still want to donate or increase their amounts for 2017.

John Furches for the 24th year will be providing a print for the $200 and above donors.

Barry Cleary (Weyerhaeuser), board president, reminded the YVUF agency partners that the deadline for submitting requests for 2018 is April 15, and must be submitted online. Scholarship applications also have a deadline of April 15, and must be submitted to YVUF by mail or drop off at 968 N. Bridge St., Elkin.

The YVUF serves the communities of Arlington, Elkin, Jonesville, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond and Traphill by providing funding for 25 local non-profit agencies and three scholarships at local high schools.

Funding and scholarship applications can be found on the YVUF website, Yadkinvalleyunitedfund.org. David Steelman can be reached at 336-469-2860 or [email protected]
