This Saturday at 7 p.m., the Foothills Arts Council, 129 Church St., Elkin, will host a CD release party for Thomas Cory Myers’ “As the Crow Flies.” Myers, president of the arts council board, and band members — Russell McCumber, Eric Webster and Luke Mears — will be playing live.

The collection of original songs is dedicated to the memory of Myer’s mother, Donese Stultz. He describes the music as folk/blues. “I’m mainly inspired by heartache, beauty, mountains, memories and love…a good story,” Myers said.

There will be refreshments and Brushy Mountain Winery will be on hand for pouring. Copies of the CD will be for sale for $12 as well as other merchandise. Admission is free.

On Sunday at 1:30 p.m. will be the rescheduled bandshell celebration and Garden Peace Posts unveiling in the arts council garden. Painted by area artists, the posts represent various groups in the community that make the area a special place. The posts will be permanently planted in the arts council garden when the bandshell is compete.

Scout Jacob Bellia will be on hand to discuss his project. Special musical guest is roll rock band Time Sawyer — Sam Tayloe, Kurt Layell, Houston Norris and Clay Stirewalt — playing live at 2 p.m. There will be refreshments and admission is free.
