ELKIN - The Buckin’ Elks rode the strong arm and bat of Bubba Bradley to victory Tuesday night.

Bradley dazzled in a complete-game gem, striking out a dozen to power Elkin to a 6-2 win over Ashe County at home. The junior also went 2-for-3 at the dish with an RBI single, while picking up his first ‘W’ on the mound.

The Elks used a four-run sixth inning to put the exclamation point on the game, erasing an early 1-0 deficit.

Daniel Brinegar, Logan Newman and Braldey led Elkin offensively with two hits and an RBI apiece as the team piled up nine base hits on the night. Jamey Cranford and Ted Shore added run-scoring hits.

With the win, the Elks evened their overall record to 3-3 on the season and improved to 2-3 in the rugged Mountain Valley Conference.

Elkin returns to the diamond tonight to take on Forbush (4-4, 3-2) in East Bend.
