ELKIN - Ace Cayley Shoemaker fired a one-hit shutout to get Elkin back on track Tuesday afternoon against Ashe County.

Shoemaker surrendered one hit over seven dominant innings with eight strikeouts to lead the Lady Elks to a big bounce-back 5-0 victory over the Huskies.

Elkin ended a two-game losing streak with the triumph, pushing its Mountain Valley Conference mark to 3-2 on the year.

Shoemaker paced the Elks offensively with a pair of singles and two runs scored, while Kaitlin Faw added two base hits. Kirstan Beaver recorded an RBI double, while Kaley Cornilison added a run-scoring single.

Elkin will get tested tonight in a marquee matchup with 4-1 Forbush in East Bend.
