The ladies at Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church will have a pinto bean supper on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to the new picnic shelter.

There will be BBQ chicken at the Traphill Fire Department on Saturday. They will begin serving at 10:30 a.m. Get there early or you won’t get any of that good chicken.

You can get Port-A-Pit BBQ chicken at the Thurmond Grocery Saturday from 10 a.m. until they sell out. Plates are $8.50 and include half a chicken, baked beans, slaw, roll and dessert. Chicken halves are $6. This is sponsored by the White Rock United Methodist Church.

Derick Barker will be bringing the message Sunday at 9 a.m. at Garden Creek Baptist Church. Campers in the Stone Mountain State Park are invited to come as you are to worship in this historic church.

There will be a business meeting at Garden Creek Baptist Church on Monday at 6 p.m. Everyone interested in this historic church is invited to attend.

Clyde McGrady celebrated his 88th birthday with about 40 friends and family members at Stone Mountain State Park last Sunday. He isn’t able to make the long walk he made on his birthday for so many years but he did make a shorter walk within the park. His daughter, Tammy, put together clips of video she’d made on those walks for the last 25 to 30 years and had it playing for everyone to see.

Condolences go to the family of Kenneth Holbrook, who passed away last week. Kenneth was the son of Lundy and Beatrice Holbrook and has several siblings living in the area.

Condolences go to the family of Tommy Collins, who passed last week. He was the pastor of Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church from 1985 to 1990.

Traphill had a low temperature of 47.3 degrees on May 2 and a high temperature of 84.5 degrees on May 4. There was 2.3 inches of rain during the week of April 28-May 4 in Traphill.
