There will be a spaghetti supper and talent show at Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church on the Traphill Road on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted to help get new cushions for the pews.


The 12th annual reunion of all Jim and Julia Walker descendants will be Saturday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church fellowship hall at noon. Bring a well-filled picnic basket and enjoy an afternoon of fun and fellowship.


There will be a wedding show for prospective brides at Roaring River Vineyards at 493 Brewer Mill Road on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. This sounds like an interesting event.


There will be services every Sunday at Garden Creek Baptist Church from now until the end of October. Yale Huie will be bringing the message Sunday at 9 a.m. Campers in the Stone Mountain State Park are invited to come as you are to worship in this historic church.


The ladies at Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church will have a pinto bean supper on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to the new picnic shelter.

Holm, “Extra Credit” by Andrew Clements, “Princess Academy Palace of Stone” by Shannon Hale, and “The Candymakers” by Wendy Mass.


Trey Hutchison had an exciting 5th farmer family birthday party last weekend. His dad, Derek Hutchison, rounded up a bunch of little bulls for riding at his party. Both boys and girls at the party had a blast. I happened to see a video of Cash Wilmouth riding one and it sure looked like he enjoyed it.


Madison Nicole Nichols, a seventh-grader at Thomas Jefferson Middle School of Winston-Salem, was invited to take the Duke Tip SAT test and scored very high — above most juniors and seniors. She also was inducted into the National Honor Society on April 22. Madison is the daughter of Mike and Angel Durham Nichols and the granddaughter of Judy and Flip Durham. Way to go, Madison.


Get well wishes go to Ed Trivette, who is recovering from rotor cuff surgery on his shoulder, and to Bud Sparks, who had gallbladder surgery last week.


Condolences go to the family of Frances Wood, who passed away last week. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.


Happy birthday wishes go to Bobby Wood on April 28; Claude Childress, Faye Wood and Michelle Porter on April 29; Lori Johnson Mathis and Lynne Hutson on May 1; Susanne Reavis, Lyvon Vestal and Rebecca Ayers on May 2; and Clyde McGrady, Dustin Smith, Sherry Hudspeth and Margie Magan on May 4.


Happy anniversary wishes go to Dennis Norman, who has been married to me for 19 years on April 30; Sonda and Chad Harris, who celebrate their third anniversary on May 1; and to Terry and Lisa Cleary, who celebrate their 13th anniversary on May 1.


Traphill had a low temperature of 39.5 degrees on April 24 and a high temperature of 86 degrees on April 27. There was .1 inch of rain during the week of Apr 21-27 in Traphill.
