Hamptonville man charged with stealing bank card

YADKINVILLE — On Wednesday, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office charged Robert Andrew Brooks, 37, of Hamptonville, with felony charges of identity theft, obtaining property by false pretense and one misdemeanor count of possession of stolen property.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Surry County resident that someone had stolen his bank card and was using the card in Yadkin and Surry counties. Further investigation found that Robert Brooks allegedly had possession of the card and was making transactions in both counties with the stolen card.

Brooks is being held at the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. The case remains under investigation.
