Another taxpayer has been taken off the rolls of those owing the town of Elkin money.

Elkin released an “outstanding tax” list on Feb. 23 at its annual retreat held in the Elkin Center. There, commissioners learned of the names of taxpayers on the list who allegedly owe taxes to the town.

After learning that her store was listed on Elkin’s past due list, Theresa Suddreth of Elkin Lube satisfied the personal property tax amount with Town Hall on Wednesday.

“Elkin Lube is paid in full,” said an email from Town Hall on the matter.

According to Suddreth, the delay on satisfying the tax was due to paperwork and timing. The matter became complicated after the death of a family member.

“It takes time to heal when you experience loss,” said Suddreth. “However, we are good community partners. I’m taking care of this matter right now.”

The town expects to provide an updated outstanding tax list to its commissioners at its next general meeting scheduled for March 10 in Town Hall.
