RONDA — Ronda’s town clerk, Lahoma O’Lague, 43, has died, according to the town mayor.

“I got a phone call this morning that Lahoma O’Lague had passed away. I am stunned. We were on the phone last night. I went over to the home of the family to extend condolences,” said Mayor Victor Varela.

“Lahoma has served the town over the last nine years. She has been an assistant town administrator and served as our town clerk,” said Varela. “She will be tremendously missed. Ronda lost a great servant.”

Since the death, Varela said he has taken steps to have an assistant brought up to speed. At some point, a position to fill the vacancy will be announced. Varela said the first order of business has been to comfort the family of a public servant, and then his team will shift to ensure the town handles its business.

Varela said he believed her heart contributed to the death.

The O’Lague family is being serviced by Johnson Funeral Home.
