To the editor,
As I watched the beautiful snow begin to fall on Wednesday (Feb. 12), I was as excited and thrilled as a child. Several years without snow had made me wonder if Elkin would never see measurable snow again. It took Mother Nature twenty years to deliver a record thirteen plus inches of snow.
While I was enjoying the beauty of the snowfall, the Elkin snow removal team made up of eight men, were preparing their trucks for the task before them. Removing the record snowfall meant 48-hours of continuous work. I am sure these men became frustrated due to the record snowfall and not being able to carry out their regular duties for the Town of Elkin.
I want to personally thank them for the great job they did on our streets. Our neighborhood was cleared and made safe for travel Friday morning. We are all fortunate to have such a great group of men. Thank you for the job well done.
