Two charged with drug violations in traffic stop

YADKINVILLE — Two have been charged following a traffic stop before Christmas.


On Dec. 22, 2013, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office was conducting a driver’s license checkpoint on N.C. 67 in East Bend. A vehicle came through the checkpoint driven by Stephan Adger of Winston-Salem, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Adger’s driver’s license was revoked along with registration violations.


Deputies noticed illegal narcotics in the glove box area. Upon a further search, deputies located cocaine and marijuana in the vehicle.


Stephan Lamar Adger, 41, and Shanta Nikia Kimbrough, 29, of East Bend, were charged with one count each of felony possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana less than 1/2 oz., and possession of drug paraphernalia. Adger also was charged with driving while license revoked.


Kimbrough was given a $2,500 secure bond, and Adger was given a $3,500 secure bond. Both were placed in the Yadkin County Jail.
